Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Nodebook ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Nodebook application (web, Android, iOS) and related services. By using Nodebook, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Account data — email address and user ID when you register or sign in via Google.
- App content — your mind map nodes, project names, tags, and settings, stored in the cloud when you choose to sync.
- Documents — PDF, EPUB, video and other files you import are stored on your device. If you use cloud sync (Nodebook Max), your projects and their files are also stored in your account in Google Cloud, so they are available on your other devices and to the people you share a project or file with. Without cloud sync, they never leave your device.
- Bug reports and contact messages — name, email address, and message content you voluntarily submit via in-app forms.
- Technical data — platform type (Android / Web) included with bug reports for diagnostic purposes.
- App usage analytics — the Nodebook app (web, Android, iOS) sends anonymous usage events through Google Analytics for Firebase, such as signing in, creating a project, importing a file, starting a flashcard session or completing a purchase, together with the platform type. These events are not linked to your account: we never send your name, email address or user ID. You can switch this off at any time — on the welcome screen or in Settings (“Send anonymous usage data to help improve the app”).
- Forum analytics — with analytics consent, we count visits using a random browser identifier and record daily clicks on the new post Publish button. We store a one-way hash of the identifier, not your name, email, or IP address in these counters. The forum also counts active viewers of each discussion using a short-lived page session identifier that expires after inactivity.
We do not collect location data, contacts, camera or microphone access, advertising identifiers, or any other sensitive personal data.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and provide access to your account.
- To sync your mind map data across devices (only when you are logged in and trigger a sync).
- To respond to bug reports and support inquiries.
- To improve the reliability and functionality of the app.
- To understand aggregate forum visits and how often people try to publish a new discussion.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sell it to third parties.
3. Third-Party Services
Nodebook uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google Cloud (authentication & database) — used for account management and cloud data storage. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics for Firebase — anonymous app usage statistics (see “App usage analytics” above); you can switch it off in the app. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Sign-In — optional authentication method. Google Privacy Policy.
- Paddle — our Merchant of Record; processes payments and taxes for the Plus and Max plans. We never see or store your card details. Paddle Privacy Policy.
- Google Play — app distribution on Android. Google Privacy Policy.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your cloud data is stored in Google's cloud infrastructure. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. We apply reasonable technical measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure.
Documents you import (PDF, EPUB, TXT) are stored exclusively on your device and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
5. Data Retention
Your account and cloud data are retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your data at any time using the export and delete features in the app, or by contacting us directly. Bug report submissions are retained for up to 12 months for diagnostic purposes.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
- Erasure — request deletion of your personal data.
- Portability — export your data using the built-in .nodebook backup feature.
- Objection — object to processing of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at kamil@nodebook.me.
7. Children's Privacy
Nodebook is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
